Why Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) & Sodium Laureth Sulfate Free? Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS),& sodium
laureth sulfate (SLES) are garage floor cleaners. They are very corrosive
and irritate the skin. Recent research suggests that SLS & SLES damages
hair follicles, making them brittle and thus the hair thinner. SLS & SLES
shampoo irritates the skin and often causes dandruff. SLS & SLES often
causes oilier hair; as SLS & SLES strips the natural oil from the scalp
and dries the skin, our glands then produce more oils to compensate. Another
concern is that when SLS & SLES is combined with other chemicals, often in
shampoo, they change their properties and become carcinogenic.
Our shampoo uses a mild but effect sugar derived from cornstarch and
coconuts. This surfactant has obtains a "0" from the
safe cosmetic data base for hazard ingredient rating. (Rating goes from 0-10,
0 the safest and 10 the worse offender.)
Free and Clean Honey Moisturizing Herbal Shampoo In the beginning I used herbs and
then diluted castile soap. I like the herbs infused into water as a great option but I
never had them time to keep up on the infusions. Next I learn to make a liquid
soap, then a shampoo formula, my husband loved it, I did not. It is a clean
product but did cause burning if gotten into the eyes. I spent 2008
working with a hair salon refining our shampoo for her customers. Finally after 3
years I am very proud of our Free and Clean Shampoo Line. A preservative
is used, it is the safest I have found available with the Environmental
Working Group, however I am working to provide our shampoo without commercial
preservative by the end of 2009. | ||||||||||||
